Hi - I’m Alexandra Brewster

I am a Functional Medicine Practitioner (IFMCP), educator and advocate for root-cause Healing

With over two decades of clinical experience, I combine evidence-based functional medicine with a heart-centred, individualised approach.

My passion lies in helping you uncover the root of your health issues — supporting gut health, hormones, detoxification and emotional wellbeing naturally.

I am also a naturopath, nutritionist and western herbalist and am dedicated to helping YOU achieve your optimum wellness potential.

After the pandemic and more than 3 decades in South East Queensland, my husband and I re-evaluated what was important in life. So, we sold my very busy clinic in order to “slow down” a little and relocated to the beautiful Whitsundays where we are doing our best to enjoy that perfect balance of work and life

My Journey

I have over 30 years of this experience as a registered nurse and midwife and had the privilege of caring for people through some of life’s most important moments.

I’m incredibly grateful for my conventional medical foundation. But even then, something didn’t sit right. I couldn’t help but wonder… Is this really what healing looks like? Watching patients struggle to recover while eating hospital food that barely passed for nourishment, I knew our bodies were more than a checklist of symptoms or a simple “chemical imbalance”

The real turning point came when my son’s teacher gently suggested he might benefit from “a professional opinion” — code for medication. My son was just eight. Alarm bells rang. I knew there had to be another way.

MY gut said there’s more to this. So, I dug deep: I researched, I read, I asked questions (this was pre-Google!) — and what I uncovered changed everything. His behaviour wasn’t a diagnosis, it was a reaction — to food. That lightbulb moment led me down the path of Functional Medicine.

This is also when I overhauled our family’s diet — and the change was astounding. My son never needed medication, and our whole family began to thrive.

THE FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE APPROACH

My approach to functional medicine is thorough, evidence-informed, and entirely patient-centred.

Your first consultation is a deep dive—designed to gather as much detail as possible, because most of my clients present with complex health issues involving many interconnected factors. After this session, I take the time to research, analyse, and thoughtfully collate all the information you’ve provided. This forms the foundation of a comprehensive, fully researched Report of Findings, which we then review together in detail. From there, we move forward with a personalised, collaborative plan—designed to help you reach your health goals with clarity, confidence, and support.
